Ibom Air passenger Emmason: NCAA explains why Kwam1 was not charged in court

The Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) clarified why Nigerian Fuji musician Wasiu Ayinde, known as K1 de Ultimate or Kwam 1, was not charged in court like Ibom Air passenger Comfort Emmanson. NCAA spokesperson Michael Achimugu explained that while Emmanson was charged and remanded in prison for alleged unruly behavior, the airline exercised its right to sue the passenger.

Achimugu emphasized that NCAA did not have prosecutorial power and it was up to the airline to take legal action. He also mentioned that if ValueJet had arrested Kwam 1, NCAA would have been involved to the extent necessary.

The clarification came after mixed reactions from Nigerians, with some criticizing the treatment of Emmanson as a double standard. NCAA stated that they would have sued Kwam 1 if the airline had taken legal action against him.
