ICAN Installs Hajiya Seghosim as 62nd President in Lagos

The Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN) held a ceremony in Lagos on Tuesday to install Hajiya Seghosim as its 62nd president. The event featured a valedictory address from the outgoing president, Mallam Haruna Yahaya, who reviewed the past year and presented a 10-point agenda aimed at enhancing the institute's governance and modernizing its core processes.

Yahaya emphasized the need for digital transformation within the accounting profession, including the introduction of secure technology-driven proctoring for online assessments. He also highlighted initiatives to improve member training in emerging areas such as data analytics and technology-driven audit practices.

The ceremony was attended by senior government officials, including Edo State Governor Mondai Okpebholo, who commended ICAN's contributions to strengthening accounting governance in Nigeria. Hajiya Seghosim's leadership comes at a time of rapid transformation in Nigeria's financial sector, driven by digital payment and regulatory reforms.
