Nigeria Achieves 91.4% Aviation Safety Rating in ICAO Audit

Nigeria has recorded a significant milestone in its aviation sector, achieving a 91.4% safety score in the latest audit conducted by the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO). This audit was concluded during a high-level meeting in Abuja on Wednesday, with Festus Keyamo, the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, announcing the results.

The audit, which occurs every three years, last took place in 2023 when Nigeria scored only 70%, a figure considered low and raising concerns about safety compliance within the industry. The recent score is the highest recorded in Nigeria's aviation history since 1960, reflecting the efforts of the current administration under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the leadership of various aviation agencies.

Keyamo expressed gratitude for the support received and emphasized the importance of ongoing reforms to maintain and improve safety standards in the aviation sector ahead of the next audit cycle.
