ICPC Unveils Reports Urging Reforms in Health, Education

The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) has intensified its anti-corruption efforts by unveiling three assessment reports that reveal ongoing governance issues in Nigeria's health and education sectors. Presented in Abuja on Monday, the reports evaluate the implementation of earlier anti-corruption recommendations directed at the National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA), the National Primary Health Care Development Agency (NPHCDA), the Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC), and selected State Universal Basic Education Boards (SUBEBs).

ICPC Chairman, Dr. Musa Aliyu (SAN), emphasized the importance of preventing corruption through institutional reforms rather than solely relying on prosecutions.

The assessments aimed to measure the implementation of previous recommendations, identify progress, and propose further reforms. Aliyu noted that while some recommendations had been implemented, significant reforms are still necessary.

He urged the agencies to maintain momentum in reform efforts, asserting that sustainable success in combating corruption depends on building resilient institutions with transparent systems and a culture of accountability.
