ICPC Convicts NSCDC Deputy Commandant for Job Racketeering

The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) announced the conviction of Idris Bard, who served as a deputy commandant in the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC). The conviction was secured on two counts of receiving a bribe amounting to N4,550,000 from Igbo Christian Okechukwu under the pretense of securing employment within the NSCDC.
The prosecution was led by Justice Ngozika Nwabulu at the Federal Capital Territory High Court in Kurudu. The offense occurred around 2017 when Bard, who was an aide to the former Commandant General of NSCDC, Abdullahi Gana, accepted the bribe from Okechukwu, thereby violating Section 18 of the Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Act of 2000.
The ICPC spokesperson, John Odei, confirmed the details in a press statement issued on Thursday in Abuja.
