ICPC Warns Borno Health Officials Against Corruption

The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) has issued a warning to health officials in Borno State to refrain from unethical practices, including drug diversion and bribery. This warning was delivered by Linu Gubbi during an interactive session with heads of hospitals in Maiduguri, the state capital.

Gubbi highlighted the importance of ethical conduct in healthcare, stressing that such practices undermine public trust and the integrity of health services. He identified recurring unethical practices in hospitals, such as drug diversion, equipment fund abuse, and nepotism in staff recruitment.

Abubakar Ali, the Chief Medical Director of the Borno State Hospital Management Board, praised the ICPC's educational program, describing it as unprecedented and essential for addressing long-standing challenges within the hospital system. The ICPC aims to strengthen public sector integrity and encourage citizen participation in the fight against corruption, as outlined in the ICPC Act of 2000.
