Nigerian Police Officer Arrested Over Alleged Coup Plot by Defence Intelligence Agency

The Defence Intelligence Agency (DIA) in Nigeria has apprehended Inspector Ahm Ibrahim, a police officer from Taraba State, over suspicions of involvement in a coup plot to overthrow the country's democratic government. The arrest was made in Abuja, with Ibrahim currently held in DIA custody as investigations continue.

The DIA, established in 1986 as Nigeria's primary military intelligence body, is handling the probe under the leadership of Chief of Defence Intelligence Lt. Gen.

Emmanuel Parker Undi. The alleged coup plot reportedly involved multiple military personnel, including officers from the Nigerian Army, Navy, Air Force, and the police force.

The investigation is ongoing, with the Defence Headquarters confirming the existence of the plot and subsequent arrests. President Bola Tinubu's government was reportedly targeted in the alleged overthrow attempt.
