Nigeria's Idris: Ready to Stabilize Global Energy Supply

In an interview with the BBC, Nigeria's Minister of Security, Mohammed Idris, emphasized the country's readiness to assist in stabilizing the global energy supply in light of escalating tensions in the Middle East, particularly due to the U.S.-Israel attacks on Iran. Idris affirmed Nigeria's capability to contribute to global energy security, stating that the world will require oil from Nigeria as tensions ease.

He also addressed security challenges in Nigeria, particularly following a recent suicide attack in Maiduguri that resulted in multiple casualties. Idris highlighted the efforts of the Nigerian Security Agency to ensure citizen safety and prevent further attacks, rejecting the notion of failure among security agencies.

He noted significant improvements in peace and stability in Maiduguri due to government reforms aimed at enhancing safety. Additionally, he discussed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's international engagements, including a recent visit to the UK, which aims to strengthen Nigeria's global relations and economic standing.
