Nigeria Ready for State Police, Says Minister Idris

On Thursday, Mohammed Idris, the Minister of State for Decentralized Police, stated that Nigeria is now ready for the establishment of state police. He reiterated the Federal Government's strong commitment to this reform, highlighting President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's determination to ensure that it becomes a reality once the necessary legal framework is in place.

During a courtesy visit to the Central Crisis Communication (CCC) led by its chairman, Major General Chris Olukolade (Rtd), Idris noted that the establishment of state police is imperative to address Nigeria's evolving security challenges. He emphasized that President Tinubu has already appealed to the National Assembly to put the appropriate legislation in place.

The Minister of State also mentioned that strengthening the country's internal security structure is crucial, particularly in the current era of crises shaped by rapid information dissemination through digital innovations.
