IED Blast Damages Trailer on Gusau-Funtua Highway

On Wednesday, an improvised explosive device (IED) detonated, damaging a cement-laden trailer traveling on the Gusau-Funtua highway in Zamfara State. The blast occurred in Unguwar Chida while the truck was en route from Sokoto to Kaduna, leading to temporary traffic disruptions.

Fortunately, the driver, Dauda Adamu, was rescued unharmed. The incident was confirmed by Ibrahim Balarab Maikaba, the Commissioner of Police, who noted that the device was likely planted by suspected bandits.

Security forces, including a combined tactical unit and an Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) team, responded promptly to identify and neutralize the remaining explosives along the affected route. Despite the attack, swift action by security agencies helped prevent further hardship for residents, as the road was reopened after approximately four hours of closure.
