Kenneth Okonkwo Responds to Peter Obi's Demand Letter

Actor and politician Kenneth Okonkwo dismissed a pre-litigation letter from Peter Obi's legal team, which demanded 5 billion naira in damages for alleged defamation. The letter, issued on June 9, 2026, accused Okonkwo of making false claims and demanded a public apology, threatening a multi-billion naira lawsuit.

In response, Okonkwo suggested that Obi, the former governor of Anambra State, should directly ask for campaign funds rather than resorting to legal threats. He criticized the demand letter, stating it was hypocritical and that Obi should seek private assistance for his campaign instead of attempting to extort funds.

Okonkwo also mentioned that he would respond to the letter when he had time and warned against disclosing sensitive information gathered during his tenure as Obi's spokesperson. The situation escalated with accusations of bribery and financial misconduct within the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC).
