IFAB Proposes Expanded Red Card Rules in Football

The International Football Association Board (IFAB) is considering expanding red card rules to cover instances where players deny clear goalscoring chances, including during fast counter-attacks. Former Arsenal coach Arsene Wenger has proposed a daylight offside rule to simplify offside decisions.

The proposed changes will be discussed at IFAB's annual meeting in London. Other topics on the agenda include VAR tweaks and goalkeeper tactics.

The new rules would require six votes to pass and could come into effect on July 1, impacting competitions like the World Cup and domestic leagues.
