IFAB Rejects Proposed Offside Rule Changes in Football

The International Football Association Board (IFAB) has decided to reject proposed changes to the offside rule in football, opting to maintain the current interpretation. The suggestion by Arsène Wenger for a "daylight offside" rule, penalizing players only when a clear gap exists to the last defender, was not accepted.

The aim of this decision is to promote attacking football and decrease the margin for VAR decisions, with IFAB emphasizing the need for further trials and research before any radical changes are made. The existing offside rule, where a player is offside if they are ahead of the second-last defender, remains unchanged for now.
