IGP Disu Advocates Police-Community Partnership for Security

On Thursday, during the 42nd anniversary celebration of the Police Community Relations Committee (PCRC) held in Abuja, Inspector General of Police Olatunji Disu stressed the importance of police-community partnerships in securing Nigeria. He noted that security cannot be the sole responsibility of the police and highlighted the need for citizens to work alongside law enforcement.

Disu described the PCRC as a vital pillar in community-oriented policing, which has built trust between police and the public. He called for renewed commitment to community engagement and stronger public trust to foster peace and resilience across Nigeria.

The PCRC, established in 1984, aims to tackle insecurity and promote peace at the grassroots level. Alhaji Mogaji Olaniyan, the national chairman of PCRC, commended the Nigeria Police Force for its support and announced that the committee has expanded its presence internationally.

He also mentioned a welfare package benefiting 6,000 police officers during recent celebrations.
