Olatunji Disu Advocates for Police-Community Cooperation

On September 24, 2026, Inspector-General of Police Olatunji Disu visited the Imo State Police Command, accompanied by Assistant Inspector-General of Police Emeka Nwonyi and other senior officers. Disu stressed that effective policing relies on mutual trust between the police and the communities they serve.

He thanked the government and people of Imo State for their support, asserting that “the Police are the community, and the community are the Police.” He urged police personnel to uphold professionalism, discipline, and integrity, while enhancing community engagement and intelligence-led policing. Disu also highlighted the importance of early and coordinated planning for election security, directing the command to collaborate effectively with stakeholders to ensure professional security management during elections, in line with CARSPO 2026 objectives.

Imo State Commissioner of Police Audu Garba Bosso briefed the IGP on the security situation, operational activities, and challenges faced by the command. Key stakeholders, including Evangelist Bethran Uzodinma and representatives from various organizations, expressed support for the police's efforts in maintaining peace and security.
