Igbo Elders Advocate Peace and Dialogue Amid Onitsha Main Market Closure

Igbo elders, represented by the Unit Igbo Elder Council (UNIEC) Worldwide, have advised against internal conflicts arising from the temporary closure of Onitsha Main Market in Anambra State. Governor Chukwuma Soludo's decision to shut down the market prompted the elders to emphasize the importance of peace and dialogue in resolving the situation.

They stressed the need for constructive engagement to address the market's closure and ensure economic stability. The UNIEC commended the people of Anambra State, particularly traders, for their peaceful response to the market shutdown.

The elders highlighted the historical significance of unity and peaceful resolution within the Igbo community, urging all parties to prioritize dialogue and restraint to prevent escalation of tensions.
