NSCDC Warns Miners Against Illegal Activities Nationwide

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) issued a warning to mining operators across Nigeria on Monday, emphasizing that engaging in illegal activities will lead to prosecution. This statement was made by John Attah, the Commander of the Mining Marshals, in Abuja.

The warning follows a recent intensification of enforcement operations by the NSCDC Mining Marshals aimed at sanitizing Nigeria’s solid minerals sector and curbing illegal mining. Attah highlighted that ignorance of the law would not protect offenders from legal consequences and urged all operators to comply with mining regulations.

The enforcement drive seeks to tackle illegal mining, protect legitimate investors, and enhance revenue generation while restoring confidence in a sector plagued by regulatory violations. The Federal Government's broader efforts to reform the solid minerals sector are underway, as it is a key component of Nigeria’s economic diversification agenda.
