IGP Egbetokun inaugurates panel to review police officers welfare conditions

The Inspector General of Police (IGP) Olukayode Egbetokun has inaugurated a committee to review and harmonize the welfare conditions of police officers in Nigeria. The committee, chaired by Assistant Commissioner Nemi Iwo, will align the Nigeria Police Service Scheme Conditions of Service with national public service rules and the Police Act.

The inauguration took place at the Force Headquarters in Abuja on Tuesday, with the committee tasked to gather stakeholder input and submit an updated draft. Members of the committee include senior officers from various specializations and representatives from the Police Service Commission.

Egbetokun emphasized that the reform aims to modernize the administrative framework of the Nigeria Police Force, improve officer welfare, and strengthen their capacity to tackle modern security challenges. He also highlighted that the initiative will complement existing welfare programs for serving and retired officers, ensuring better living conditions and enhanced retirement benefits.
