IGP Orders Investigation into Dadiyata's Disappearance

The Inspector General of Police (IGP) has initiated a probe into the disappearance and alleged killing of Dadiyata, a social media activist who was abducted from his home in Barnawa, Kaduna, in August 2019. This action follows a petition submitted by Abba Hikima, a human rights lawyer, which addressed claims made by Muhammad Musa Kamarawa, a former senior special assistant to Bello Matawalle, the past governor of Zamfara State.

Kamarawa alleged that certain officials threatened to kill Dadiyata during operations in Kaduna. The petition emphasizes the need for a transparent investigation to clear the names of the officials involved and to ensure justice for Dadiyata.

The IGP's principal staff officer, Lateef Adio, confirmed that the matter has been referred to the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of the monitoring unit for immediate action. The case remains unresolved and has sparked widespread public concern for accountability regarding Dadiyata's fate.
