IGP Disu Commits to Pension Reforms for Retired Officers

On Tuesday, October 3, 2023, the Inspector General of Police, Olatunji Rilwan Disu, met with retired police officers in Abuja to address ongoing welfare concerns, particularly regarding pension and gratuity issues. Disu highlighted the persistent challenges surrounding police salaries and pensions, emphasizing the administration's determination to pursue solutions.

He outlined two key avenues to ensure that grievances from retirees reach the highest levels of government. The first involves establishing an executive liaison mechanism for retirees to submit petitions directly to him.

Disu pledged to personally present these documents to President Bola Tinubu to advocate for the signing of a pension bill. Additionally, he assured that the rights of retirees would be fully respected and protected, and he expressed plans to collaborate with relevant offices to improve employment opportunities for the children of retired officers during future recruitment exercises.
