Nigeria's U18 and U20 Handball Teams Win Championships

Nigeria's U18 men's handball team emerged as champions at the International Handball Federation (IHF) Trophy Africa Zone 3 tournament held in Togo, defeating Ivory Coast 32-19 in the final on Saturday. Under the guidance of coach Abdulhakim Yakubu, the U18 team displayed a dominant performance, leading 14-9 at halftime and extending their advantage in the second half to secure the title.

The U20 team, coached by David Emmanuel, also claimed victory, defeating Benin Republic 39-29 in their final match. The U20 team established an early lead of 22-16 at halftime and maintained their intensity to achieve a well-deserved win.

These victories highlight Nigeria's growing strength in youth handball within the region, as both teams qualified to represent Zone 3 in the continental phase of the IHF Trophy Africa scheduled for later this year, where they will compete against the best teams across the continent.
