Ikorodu City Tops NPFL After 3-1 Win Over Ranchers

Ikorodu City commenced the 2026/2027 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) season with a 3-1 victory against newly promoted Ranchers Bees on Sunday, positioning them at the top of the league table. After conceding a goal in the seventh minute, Umar Dan’Azumi equalized for Ikorodu City in the 30th minute.

Abayomi Ayodeji then put the hosts ahead just before half-time. Farouk Salami secured the win with a penalty in the 87th minute.

Other matches included Rivers United defeating Plateau United 2-0, with goals from Abdulrasheed Dabai and Wasiu Falolu. Kwara United managed a late 2-2 draw against Kano Pillars, while Bendel Insurance came from behind to beat Warri Wolves 2-1.

Niger Tornadoes won 2-1 against Enyimba, and Barau FC triumphed 3-1 over Nasarawa United. Reigning champions Enugu Rangers were held to a 1-1 draw by Katsina United, with Chibueze Oputa scoring a stoppage-time equalizer.

Doma United marked their return to the NPFL with a 2-0 win over Sporting Lagos.
