Ogun Controller Advocates Support for Inmate Rehabilitation

On Friday, Abioye Adesina, the Ogun State Controller of Corrections, urged for enhanced support from non-governmental organizations, private entities, and relevant stakeholders to bolster rehabilitation and reintegration efforts for inmates. His remarks were made during a graduation ceremony for 28 inmates at the Old Abeokuta Custodial Centre in Ibara, Ogun State, who completed basic computer skills training.

Adesina highlighted that expanding partnerships would facilitate additional training, equipment, and resources necessary for preparing inmates for successful reintegration into society. He explained that this training is part of the Nigerian Correctional Service’s initiative to equip inmates with practical skills for productive lives post-incarceration.

The graduation was organized by the Centre for Legal Support and Inmate Rehabilitation in collaboration with the Kastenbeelo Computer Training Institute. Adesina reiterated the importance of rehabilitation as a core mandate of the Correctional Service and urged the graduates to utilize their new skills to create better opportunities and contribute positively to society.
