Ikot Ekpene Celebrates 75 Years with Global Vision

Mr. Aniefiok Nkom, the chairman of Ikot Ekpene Local Government Area, emphasized the need to reposition the council for global relevance as part of the 75th anniversary celebrations of Ikot Ekpene. During a press briefing at the council secretariat, he unveiled a comprehensive roadmap aimed at driving economic growth and cultural revival over the next 75 years.

The celebrations, termed a "diamond jubilee," will not only commemorate the area's historical significance but also serve as a strategic platform to attract investments and enhance visibility on national and international stages. The official flag-off of the celebrations is set to begin in April 2026, culminating in a grand finale in December 2026, which will feature the commissioning of a modern shopping mall and a large-scale exhibition showcasing Ikot Ekpene's renowned raffia products.

Nkom called for unity among the community and urged the diaspora to reconnect with their roots to contribute to the area's development.
