Ikpeba Declares Nwabali Superior to Okoye After Victory

Following Nigeria's 2-1 victory over Madagascar, former African Footballer of the Year Victor Ikpeba asserted that Stanley Nwabali is a better goalkeeper than Maduka Okoye. Okoye was unavailable for the match after arriving late for international duty due to a club event.

Nwabali made a pivotal save in the 51st minute against Madagascar's Rayan Raveloson, which Ikpeba noted could have changed the match's outcome. Ikpeba stated on SuperSport that Nwabali is the number one goalkeeper for the national team, emphasizing his belief and determination.

Nwabali's appearance marked his first for Nigeria since keeping four consecutive clean sheets at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations. Super Eagles manager Eric Chelle also commended Nwabali for his performance, particularly for denying a scoring opportunity that could have altered the game's result.
