Malami Defends Against Financial Misconduct Allegations

Abubakar Malami, the former Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, stated in a recent interview that he is prepared to defend himself against allegations of financial misconduct. He expressed no regrets regarding his tenure as minister, emphasizing his pride in his record.

Malami accused security agencies of violating constitutional rights during investigations, specifically mentioning that searches of his home and business premises were conducted without prior notice. He spent time in custody at Kuje Prison due to these allegations.

Malami, alongside his wife Bashir Malami and son Abdulaziz Malami, is currently facing 16 counts of charges related to alleged money laundering filed by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC). He insists that due process was not followed during the investigations and that his rights were infringed upon.
