New Law Imposes Five-Year Ban for Illegal Stadium Entry

The English Football Association (FA) has enacted a new law that criminalizes illegal entry into football stadiums, imposing a five-year ban for offenders. This legislation, introduced ahead of the Carabao Cup final at Wembley Stadium, targets various illegal entry methods, including tailgating behind legitimate ticket holders and using forged tickets or fake accreditations to gain access.

Anyone found guilty of these offenses will face a fine of £1,000, in addition to a football ban order preventing them from attending matches for five years. This law follows the disorder witnessed during the UEFA Euro 2020 final, where approximately 2,000 individuals entered the stadium illegally, leading to serious safety concerns.

Police Minister Sarah Jones stated that the new measures aim to prevent such incidents and ensure that fans can enjoy games without feeling unsafe. The legislation is part of a broader effort to improve stadium safety ahead of Euro 2028, which will be co-hosted by the UK and Ireland.
