Illinois Mother Charged with Murder of 2-Year-Old Son

Corie Walsh, 40, has been charged with three counts of first-degree murder following the death of her 2-year-old son, Barrett Walsh, in their Frankfort, Illinois home on September 1. Police responded to a report of an unresponsive child, finding Barrett in the basement.

Despite CPR efforts, he was pronounced dead at a hospital, with preliminary autopsy findings indicating death by asphyxia due to ligature compression of the neck. Investigators noted Walsh had been discussing the high-profile Lindsay Clancy trial, where Clancy was accused of killing her three children, just hours before her son’s death.

Although authorities have not established a direct connection between the two cases, the timing raised concerns. After Barrett was found, Walsh was discovered with self-inflicted injuries and was taken for medical treatment.

Her attorney claimed she was experiencing a psychotic episode, and Walsh reportedly believed her son was the “devil” and the “anti-Christ.” The case continues to develop, with Walsh remaining in custody.
