Adeyemi Seeks House Clearance Amid PFIPC Investigation

Adeyemi, the detained Director-General of the controversial Public Financial Investment and Planning Council (PFIPC), has requested the House of Representatives to grant him administrative clearance to appear before its ad hoc committee investigating the council and its N1.302 billion allocation in the 2026 Appropriation Act. His legal team, led by Festus Akhigbe, stated that any report from the lawmakers without his testimony would be “fundamentally flawed” and violate his constitutional right to a fair hearing.

Adeyemi is currently in police custody under a valid court remand order. He refuted claims that he solely created and operated the PFIPC, arguing that multiple government institutions recognized the council, making it implausible for one individual to orchestrate its operations.

His legal team cited various government entities, including the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation and the Central Bank of Nigeria, which engaged with the PFIPC, processed documentation, and facilitated its establishment and funding.
