Reps Demand Police Produce Phantom PFIPC DG Adeyemi

The Ad hoc Committee of the House of Representatives is conducting an investigation into the alleged operations of the Presidential Foreign Investment Promotion Council (PFIPC). On Monday, the committee requested that the Inspector General of Police, Olatunji Disu, produce Martin Adeyemi, who is purportedly the Director General of the PFIPC, for questioning on Wednesday.

This request follows confirmation from the Nigeria Police that Adeyemi is under criminal prosecution due to allegations, including petitions from Femi Gbajabiamila, the Chief of Staff to the President. Gbajabiamila has accused Adeyemi of fraudulently presenting himself as the Director General of both the PFIPC and the Presidential Economic Advisory Council.

Committee Chairman Yusuf Gagdi emphasized the necessity of Adeyemi's appearance due to the serious nature of the allegations, which involve the integrity of individuals and institutions. The committee has instructed its secretariat to formally request Adeyemi's presence, with a specific directive for him to appear by 12 noon on Wednesday.

Assistant Commissioner of Police Basir Abdullahi informed the committee that the Nigerian Police had previously filed eight-count charges against Adeyemi in a Federal High Court, and the case is ongoing.
