Datti Baba-Ahmed Leaves Labour Party for People's Redemption

Datti Baba-Ahmed, the 2023 vice presidential candidate for the Labour Party, announced on Tuesday during an appearance on Channels Television's political program "Politics Today" that he is leaving the Labour Party to join the People's Redemption Party (PRP). This decision is attributed to internal disagreements within the Labour Party, which he feels has drifted from its original ideals.

Baba-Ahmed emphasized that his exit from the Labour Party will take effect at midnight. He also expressed disappointment over the failure of his former running mate, Peter Obi, to secure the presidential ticket of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), urging him to return to the Labour Party.

This announcement marks a significant shift in the political landscape as Baba-Ahmed seeks a new political home amid ongoing tensions within his former party.
