Adekanmbi Denies Being Makinde's Surrogate in Oyo Race

Abimbola Adekanmbi, the governorship candidate for the Allied Peoples Movement (APM) in Oyo State, has publicly rejected claims that he is a surrogate for the current governor, Seyi Makinde. In an interview on Arise News, Adekanmbi, who previously served as the Commissioner for Finance in Oyo State, asserted that he would lead an independent administration if elected.

He emphasized that he has developed his own policy agenda and would take full responsibility for his decisions. Adekanmbi clarified that his political relationship with Makinde should not be misconstrued as a sign of control, stating, “I’m no surrogate to Governor Makinde.” He noted that Makinde advised him against inheriting any political disputes or liabilities from the incumbent administration.

Furthermore, Adekanmbi dismissed suggestions that Makinde unilaterally selected candidates for various elective positions, explaining that the candidates emerged through a process of consultations and public engagements across different sectors and regions of Oyo State.
