Soludo Defends Crackdown on Native Doctors in Anambra

Anambra State Governor Charles Soludo has defended his administration's crackdown on native doctors, clarifying that the initiative is not an attack on traditional religion but a measure against criminal activities associated with certain practices. During a media chat in Awka, Soludo emphasized the government's respect for traditional worship while stating that practices promoting crime would not be tolerated.

He highlighted the connection between some native doctors and criminal activities, including kidnapping and internet fraud, asserting the government's duty to halt such acts. The crackdown has led to the arrest of several suspects, including Johnpaul Ezenagu, known as Mmuo Mmili Afulu Anya, who was apprehended for allegedly performing illegal rituals for internet fraudsters.

Additionally, Chidozi Nwangwu, known as Akwa Okuku Tiwara Aki, was sentenced to two years in prison in February following his arrest last year. The governor reiterated that genuine traditional medicine practices are not the focus of this crackdown.
