Fashola Rules Out Presidential Ambition, Focuses on Service

Babatunde Fashola, the former Governor of Lagos State and ex-Minister of Works, has dismissed speculation regarding his presidential ambitions during an interview on TVC on Wednesday. He stated unequivocally, “No,” when asked if he intended to contest for the presidency, adding with a smile, “President of what?

I’m president at home.” Reflecting on his public service, Fashola described it as a rare privilege and expressed hope that his journey would inspire younger Nigerians. He noted that Nigeria continues to present opportunities for those willing to strive, highlighting stories of success.

Fashola confirmed his membership in the Lagos State Governance Advisory Council (GAC) and stressed the importance of respecting governance boundaries. He called for stronger protection of the judiciary, advocated for a vibrant opposition, and reiterated support for establishing state police.

Additionally, he commented on the Tinubu administration, stating that President Bola Tinubu is implementing critical fiscal and monetary reforms while managing broader national responsibilities.
