Fashola Prefers Private Advice to Tinubu Over Public Critique

Babatunde Fashola, the former Lagos State Governor and immediate past Minister of Works and Housing, expressed his preference for private communication over public criticism regarding President Bola Tinubu's administration during an interview on TVC News. Fashola noted that President Tinubu regularly seeks his advice on governance as the administration approaches the 2027 general elections.

He stated, “I will speak to the President on TV? I’ve told myself I would not do that,” emphasizing the value of their direct communication.

Fashola rejected the notion that the administration has developed blind spots, asserting that his access to the President makes public criticism unnecessary. He also dismissed suggestions of his future presidential ambitions, stating, “No,” and humorously added, “President of what?

I’m president at home.” Fashola confirmed his membership in the Lagos State Governance Advisory Council (GAC) and highlighted the distinction between providing guidance and interfering in government affairs.
