Imams and Youths Unite in Prayer for Abducted Victims

On May 15, 2023, Sheikh Abdul Ganiyi Abubakar Agbotomokeker, the Grand Chief Imam of Oyo State, led a prayer session for the safe return of 46 pupils and teachers abducted by terrorists in Oriir Local Government Area. The event attracted hundreds of clerics and Islamic scholars, emphasizing that the heinous acts of banditry do not represent Islam.

Alhaji Ishaq Kunl Sani, Chairman of the Muslim Community in Oyo State, and Alhaji Murisiku Abidemi Siyanbad, Secretary General, expressed deep concern over the security situation in the region. Concurrently, in Abeokuta, Ogun State, Christian youths organized a peace prayer walk, calling for unity and divine intervention in Nigeria's challenges, including insecurity and economic hardship.

The event highlighted the need for citizens to remain hopeful and urged government authorities to ensure the safety of kidnapped individuals. Additionally, a group criticized former Ekiti State Governor Ayo Fayose for comments regarding the abductions, calling for an urgent investigation into his allegations against the Oyo State government.
