CAN Urges Government to Seek Divine Help for Abducted Pupils

On Tuesday, July 11, 2026, Revd Olukayode Ogundiya, the chairman of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) in Oyo State, called on the federal and state governments to seek God's wisdom in the rescue of 40 schoolchildren and a teacher abducted on May 15, 2026. During an interview at a book launch in Ibadan, Ogundiya emphasized the need for Nigerian leaders to rely on divine guidance rather than solely on human expertise.

He announced a special prayer event scheduled for July 11, 2026, at Orita Mefa Baptist Church, where church leaders will gather from 6 PM to pray for the immediate release of the abducted individuals. The abduction occurred during coordinated attacks on three schools in the Oyo State area.

Ogundiya stressed that wisdom from God is essential for effective leadership and urged politicians to trust in divine intervention for the nation's improvement.
