Traditional Worshippers Seek Divine Help for Abducted Pupils

Traditional worshippers in Abeokuta, Ogun State, performed a series of spiritual rites led by Dr. Omolara Fashola MacGregor, the wife of Oba Prof.

Alex Olusegun MacGregor, to seek divine intervention for the safe release of 40 pupils and teachers abducted from three schools in the Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State nearly three weeks prior. The spiritual exercises involved visiting several sacred sites, including the famous Olumo Rock, where prayers were offered, and ancestral deities were invoked on behalf of the victims.

The gathering, marked by traditional regalia symbolizing their religious beliefs, expressed grief and concern over the attack on schools that occurred in mid-May, resulting in the death of the headmaster and the abduction of numerous pupils and educational workers. During the ceremony, Olori MacGregor emphasized the necessity of spiritual intervention at a time when security challenges continue to threaten vulnerable members of society, particularly innocent school children.
