Nigerian Immigration Service Rescues 59 Trafficking Victims in Borno State

The Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) apprehended a suspected human trafficker, Ismaila Alhassan, in Borno State. The NIS, in a joint operation with the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP), rescued 59 victims from Katsina State who were being trafficked to Chad without valid travel documents.

The victims, mostly females, were promised fake jobs in Chad by the suspect. The NIS had received intelligence reports and strengthened border communities to combat human trafficking.

The suspect and victims were handed over to the zonal office of NAPTIP for further investigation and necessary actions.
