Imo APP Raises Alarm Over Attack on Secretariat

The Imo State chapter of the Action Peoples Party (APP) has expressed alarm regarding an attack on its secretariat in Owerri, which occurred in the early hours of Sunday. Eyewitnesses reported that a group of heavily armed individuals, described as acting in a commando manner, breached the perimeter fence of the secretariat and forcibly gained access to the premises.

The attackers were allegedly led by individuals associated with the Imo State government. The incident involved the vandalism of party property, including the destruction of campaign billboards located within the secretariat.

Steve Nnamdi, the party's state public secretary, issued a statement expressing concern over the incident, labeling it a serious threat to democracy and the rule of law in Imo State. The APP has called on relevant security agencies, particularly the Nigeria Police Force, to conduct a thorough and impartial investigation into the allegations.

The party insists that anyone found culpable, regardless of their political affiliation, should face the full weight of the law.
