Imo YPP Secretariat Attacked; Stakeholders Demand Probe

On July 19, 2026, at approximately 3:30 AM, a violent attack occurred at the Young Progress Party (YPP) secretariat located at Ama Wire Orji along Okigwe Road in Owerri, Imo State. Unidentified assailants arrived in an unmarked Toyota Sienna vehicle, exited, and proceeded to tear down party banners and signage, destroying two banners during the attack.

The assailants attempted to force their way into the premises but were resisted by security personnel on duty. This act of vandalism is perceived as a politically motivated intimidation tactic aimed at instilling fear as the YPP gains momentum in the state.

Hon. Obiakor Benneth II, the state public secretary, called for an immediate investigation by national security agencies.

The party's leadership, represented by Rt. Hon.

Michael Anyanwu, stated that the YPP will not be intimidated by such acts of political violence and remains committed to providing a credible political alternative for the people of Imo State ahead of the 2027 general elections.
