Imo State Government Charges Woman for Burning Maid's Private Parts

The Imo State Government has pressed murder charges against a 38-year-old businesswoman, Juliet Igwe, for burning her maid's private parts with boiling water and candle wax. The incident occurred in Ideato North LGA in December.

The state's counsel, Chidiebube Okeoma, revealed this during a court appearance in Owerri. The victim, a minor, was rescued by the police with the assistance of activist Osina Ideato.

The accused has been remanded in custody until the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) is ready to proceed. The state is committed to ensuring justice for the victim, with the governor's wife, Chioma Uzodinma, visiting the minor in the hospital to assure full rehabilitation.

The case is set to be heard in the high court on February 26.
