Imo Police Arrest Two Armed Robbers, Recover Firearm

On April 3, 2026, the Imo State Police Command successfully apprehended two armed robbery suspects, Sohnani Bitru, 25, and Burfa Selkap, 25, both natives of Langtang LGA in Plateau State. The operation was led by the Divisional Police Officer (DPO), CSP Safiyanu Usman Gwarzo, following credible intelligence received at the new Owerri division headquarters.

The suspects were involved in a robbery incident at the residence of Joel Andrew around 4:00 AM, where they threatened the victim with a firearm and unlawfully seized a red Daylong motorcycle, registered under the number NWA 765 QT. Further interrogation of the suspects led to the recovery of a pump-action rifle and a machete, which were hidden in a location within Okwu Uratta, Owerri North LGA.

The suspects will be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) in Owerri as ongoing investigations continue to apprehend any remaining accomplices.
