The Imo State Police Command successfully dismantled a robbery syndicate, recovering 450 stolen motorcycles and arresting five suspects involved in various roles within the operation. Police spokesperson Henri Okoy disclosed that the arrests occurred following a distress call about a missing vehicle, which led to an investigation by the anti-kidnap unit, headed by Oladimeji Odeyeyiwa. The suspects attempted to bribe the police with 5 million naira to evade arrest, an offer that was rejected. The investigation revealed that the syndicate had attempted to relocate the stolen motorcycles to evade detection. The police recovered the motorcycles, which had been repainted to conceal their identities, and arrested additional suspects, including Okechukwu Princ and Raymond Odinaka, who confessed to their involvement. The operation reflects the police command's commitment to ensuring that criminal elements have no safe haven in Imo State. State Commissioner of Police Audu Bosso directed thorough investigations and prosecutions according to the law.
