Nigeria Strengthens Health Early Warning Systems Against Climate Change

A workshop focused on strengthening early warning systems for health in Nigeria was held, emphasizing the urgent need to build climate-resilient health systems. The event brought together key national agencies, including the Nigerian Meteorological Service (NIMET) and the Federal Ministry of Health and Social Welfare, to co-develop a multi-hazard early warning system.

This initiative is part of Nigeria's commitment to integrate climate change into health and environmental policies, as outlined in the recently submitted Nationally Determined Contributions (NDC) 3.0. The workshop, supported by international experts and organizations such as the UK Government and the World Health Organization, aimed to enhance community resilience and reduce health risks from climate-sensitive diseases.
