Nigeria Boosts Local Defence Production with DICON-D7G

Nigeria is intensifying its local production of defence equipment, with the Defence Industries Corporation of Nigeria–D7G (DICON-D7G) advancing the development of production lines for armoured vehicles and anti-drone systems. This initiative, in collaboration with Eagles International for Defence Systems, aims to expand Nigeria’s defence manufacturing capacity, facilitate technology transfer, and reduce reliance on imported military equipment.

Mr Osman Chennar, CEO of DICON-D7G, announced this following a two-day inspection by the Minister of State for Defence, Dr Bello Mohammed Matawalle, in Cairo. The partnership is expected to create over 200 jobs and provide employment for about 100 retired military personnel.

The initiative includes the production of various military platforms, such as the Armoured Multi-Purpose Vehicle BR6 and MRAP-Buffalo vehicles. Additionally, DICON-D7G is developing a military jetty in Lagos to enhance logistics for local defence production, expected to commence within two to three months.
