Kaduna State's Agriculture Thrives Under Gov. Uba Sani

Ahmad Maiyaki, the commissioner for information and culture in Kaduna state, discussed the agricultural advancements achieved under the leadership of Gov. Sen Uba Sani.

The Kaduna state government has successfully reclaimed over 500,000 hectares of farmland previously controlled by bandits, allowing farmers to return to their fields and schools and healthcare centers to reopen. Agriculture, which contributes approximately 42% to the state's GDP, has seen a resurgence, with yields tripling compared to the previous decade.

The budget for agriculture has significantly increased from N1.48 billion in 2023 to over N100 billion in 2026, enabling substantial interventions, including the distribution of 500 trucks of fertilizers to 150,000 smallholder farmers at no cost. This initiative aims to enhance productivity, with farmers now able to produce up to 20-22 bags per hectare with fertilizer assistance, compared to just 2-3 bags without it.
