Kaduna Transforms into Nigeria's Agricultural Hub Under Sani

Since assuming office in May 2023, Governor Uba Sani of Kaduna State has initiated a transformation of the state into one of Nigeria’s key agricultural hubs. Faced with a landscape marred by insecurity, his administration adopted the Kaduna Peace Model, which integrates security operations with community dialogue and socioeconomic interventions.

This approach has involved over 50 consultative forums with various stakeholders, the establishment of Peace Councils, and enhanced support for security agencies, including military bases and operational vehicles. A significant aspect of this strategy is the training of 1,000 forest guards, aimed at reclaiming territory from criminal gangs.

As a result, more than 500,000 hectares of previously abandoned land have been reclaimed, facilitating agricultural activities. Additionally, over 100 schools and 150 primary healthcare facilities have reopened, indicating a broader return to normalcy in rural areas.

The administration is focused on converting restored peace into an agricultural economic strategy, with agricultural funding increasing as part of this initiative.
