Professor Maduebibisi Iwe's Leadership at MOUAU

Professor Maduebibisi Ofo Iwe assumed the role of the 6th Vice Chancellor of Michael Okpara University of Agriculture (MOUAU) in Umudike, Abia State, on March 1, 2021, following a highly competitive selection process by the 7th Governing Council led by Moham Lawal Zayyana. His tenure began during a challenging period marked by the socio-economic impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Despite facing numerous issues, including over a hundred court cases against the university and a loss of confidence among stakeholders, Professor Iwe focused on restoring peace and harmony within the institution. He successfully reconciled with aggrieved staff, leading to the withdrawal of litigations.

Under his leadership, MOUAU has seen infrastructural developments, including the establishment of a microfinance bank and the renovation of university facilities. His administration emphasizes practical training for students in food science and hospitality management, aiming to enhance the university's reputation and contribute to food security.
