DICON Launches Tactical Shotgun to Boost Local Arms Production

On Tuesday, DICON (Defence Industries Corporation of Nigeria) unveiled a tactical shotgun platform in partnership with GRAI Insignia Ltd, aimed at bolstering Nigeria's indigenous arms production. The initiative is designed to support state-led security efforts across the country, particularly in rural communities and agricultural zones.

BEM Ibrahim Garba, the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of DICON, stated that the platform addresses the operational realities faced by security personnel. This development is part of a broader strategy to strengthen Nigeria's defense manufacturing capacity and reduce reliance on imported security equipment.

The tactical shotgun platform will support various government-approved security formats, including the Civilian Joint Task Force and community protection units. The program also includes comprehensive training packages for security personnel, focusing on weapon handling, safety, and tactical marksmanship.

This initiative reflects a growing shift in Nigeria's security strategy towards developing domestic industrial capacity to ensure long-term national security.
